At Orchard Dental we want you to feel at ease every step of your visit. We understand that dental visits can evoke anxiety in many people. Our goal is for you to leave our office with a new, positive, vision of what it means to visit the dentist.
When you arrive, you will be greeted with friendly smiles and a chance to grab a bottled water or some coffee to relax for just a moment. In the brief time you will have in our reception area, there are computers where you can surf the web or check emails, a kid’s room for the children filled with toys and books, as well as a TV and some magazines to help pass the time.

With everyone being so busy these days, we know your time is valuable so we’ll get you back as quickly as possible. From the dental chair you’ll lounge on during treatment and listen to soft background music or watch your favorite show on one of the flat screen TV’s. Yes, we even have TV’s on the ceiling! At Orchard Dental, we’ve put thought into how each detail will affect your experience. This allows us to keep you comfortable while providing excellent dental care to you and your family.
We also enjoy surprising you with unexpected pampering perks like a comforting neck pillow and a heated face towel.

When your visit calls for sedation, our Doctor will offer three options which are appropriate for different situations.

Nitrous Oxide

For more minor dental procedures, such as having a cavity filled, this safe, side effect-free option allows a patient to stay awake during the procedure, yet calms anxieties. A patient wears a scented mask over his mouth and nose, and breathes in a mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas) during treatment. Once the mask is removed, the sedation effect dissipates quickly.

Oral Conscious Sedation

For more involved treatment procedures such as tooth restorations or root canals, or for patients who suffer from more acute dental anxiety or fear, a stronger sedation option is generally warranted. During oral conscious sedation, you take a dose of anti-anxiety medication about an hour before your appointment. By the time you’re seated in the dental chair, you will feel deeply relaxed and impassive about the procedure at hand. You will continue to feel the effects of oral conscious sedation after your visit, so you will need to arrange for reliable transportation home. Oral conscious sedation provides a safe, effective sedation option for a wide range of needs.

IV Sedation

IV Sedation provides a safe and effective option for patient undergoing dental procedures that they prefer not to remember. IV Sedation allows patients to recover quickly and resume normal daily activities in a short period of time. This type of sedation induces an altered state of consciousness that minimizes discomfort through the use of pain relievers and sedatives.
